Ako ay Guro: Ito ang aking Misyon. (I am a Teacher. This is my Mission)

(Of all the themes in Litratong Pinoy, this was perhaps the most clear-cut to me. I just had difficulty deciding what photo to put, but from the get-go, I knew exactly what my mission was.)

(I am a teacher. I am proud to say that! I feel that teaching is not just a job for me, but it is my true passion. This is where I found my joy. This answers the questions about who I am. This is where I find my peace of mind. I have to admit that this job often isn’t easy, and that by taking on this mission, I may never truly be financially rich. Nonetheless, I take on this mission wholeheartedly.)

(Actually, this mission became the catalyst for the formation of one of my blogs, www.theaccidentalteacher.com. I have been blogging for quite some time already, but it was only recently that I realized that this hobby of mine can be a platform to widen my scope and reach as a teacher. Here I am able to support advocacies, share what I know and offer support to those who need it.)

Nagsimula itong misyong ito sa isang simpleng plurk: yapatoots is thinking about getting her own domain.

This mission began with a simple plurk: yapatoos is thinking about getting her own domain. Within minutes I got so much support and positive reactions. Then the ball got rolling! While I was not expecting the response I got, I would like to take this time to thank all those who have supported and are continuing to support my mission…big heartfelt thanks to my friend who gave me the gift of the domain name, to friends who offered support on setting up and hosting the site, to the readers, and also to those who have seen my blogs potential to be an influential blog for 2009 and included it in their personal top ten lists.

Sa Gitna Ng Kaguluhan, Ang Kasagutan sa Lahat ay Payak (In the Midst of Chaos, the Answer is Simple)

Please allow me to attempt to put some fun into our theme for today. When I first thought about what I should do for this week, I thought of going to a playground or a park to take pictures of children playing because for me, they are the embodiment of what is simple.

However today as I sat at my desk, I came across this picture and it made me laugh remembering what we went through that day. There is a story behind this picture, you see. This was taken when my friends and I went to Eden Nature Park in Davao City. Unfortunately, the weather was not good and it was raining for most of the day but we still wanted to go trekking in the park as it was said to be quite nice. Despite being warned that taking the trek was not advisable, off we went. We consequently got caught in a heavy downpoar and three of us even slipped on the muddy forested area. In fact, I even hit my head on the ground when I fell. When we got to a relatively flat area, we decided to not pursue the rest of the trek and called for help from the management of the park.

This picture, albeit posed, now reminds me of a small fact of life: often times we will face adversity and difficult times, but in the midst of all that chaos, the answer is simple, as long as we’re willing to ask for help.
