Mall Scares

The other day, in broad daylight, one of our local malls was terrorized by armed gunmen who held up security guards and employees of a money changer just around the time the mall opened. It was quite a shock to hear about it. This came at the heels of news the day before of a woman who also shot someone in the mall several months ago being declared mentally incompetent to face trial. It also reminded me of another tragic shooting that happened in another mall involving two young boys. It’s scary. Malls are supposed to be fun places where people can relax, have fun and just let their cares go but lately, the mall scares have been escalating. I know the mall security tries, but I can understand that the guards at the entrances don’t really get to check the patrons quite well. For one, there’s just too many people. Secondly, the patrons themselves get pissed when the guards try to frisk them and look through their bags. It’s high time, I think, that mall operators invest in something more tangible to protect customers. Perhaps they can check out metal detectors sales and other means of beefing up security. I think CCTV’s aren’t enough…hopefully these incidents don’t happen much anymore.

Explore, Expand, Experience

This is my new life’s philosophy. I have decided to make it a point to step out of my comfort zone and explore what else is out there. I want to expand my horizons and experience life in a whole new way. While I do not imagine giving up the life that I know completely, but I will let go and allow a freefall to happen. I will allow circumstances to unfold and I will evolve alongside it. Now if only I can teach my classes via audio conferencing, that would be grand :)

Blog Updates!

Once more I find myself too busy to keep up with my blogs. Phail. I do hope, however, that I can get back on track again. So, what’s been keeping me busy? Besides yoga, that is? Teeheee…I lately found myself transitioning to a vegetarian diet and so I have decided that as part of my recommitment to blog, I will put in a new section in this site. It will review veggie restaurants and places. I hope you can watch out for it :) I have a handful of really great places and dishes to review. I’m almost sure that whether you are vegetarian or not, you’d like it a lot :) Come back soon, ayt? :)

Time for Nest Egg

If there is one word to describe me in a mall, it would be impulsive. I am probably one of the most impulsive shoppers EVER. I’m beginning to think it’s a disease. Haha.

Seriously, though, I have come to realize that I really must rein in my poor money management skills. The first thing I must do: control the impulse shopping. Second on my list is to avoid my overpriced coffee and tea breaks. Lastly, it’s time to invest in something more concrete.Perhaps I can start by looking at life insurance rates and getting myself one of those plans. I can also think about investing in a condo unit or something…let’s see.
But yeah…time to start building a nest egg.

Snickers Love!

I have a sweet tooth the size of Texas (or something like that. Har. I heard that saying somewhere and I’m going with it). In fact, desserts are definitely the best part of my meal and I would gladly give up an entire steak-and-potatoes dinner for a little dessert. I don’t really like chiffon or sponge cakes much, but I do like mousse’s and the like. Chocolates and ice creams, however, are my all time favorite. There are five kinds of chocolate bars/candies I love: peanut butter M&M’s, Butterfinger, Reese’s peanut butter cups, Maltesers and Snickers. The other day, I came across this….

Heaven in a bar. OMG. If only I weren’t so afraid of the side effects of phytodren and other supplements of the like, I would probably need them because this bar was just SOOO good. I had to stop myself from buying a pint of Snickers Ice Cream. Gaaah. But yeah, it was sooo worth every calorie.

Little Green Steps

One of my newest quests is to go green. I know I can’t change the whole world and solve the whole climate change problem, but I have come to embrace the fact that every little step counts. As such, I will make sure to be more mindful about my behaviors and actions. Small steps count, after all, right? I can do little things such as bring recyclable bags when I go to the grocery, bring a water container rather than always buy a new bottle when I go to yoga, and also recycle little things I use every day, such as the coffee pods I use in the morning, or the little tea bags I use at night, and even the bottles and containers of the food I buy. I figured that if I made sure I did the little things, it would be one less thing that adds to a big problem, right? So, what little green step can you take? Do share :)

Missing the Old Days

I’m getting a wee bit sentimental today. I’m cleaning up my room, looking through old pictures and remembering how things used to be. I came across a set of duracell procell d batteries and remembered how I used to use that for my little “boom box” hehe. That radio had a lot of memories for me. Back then I would call radio stations and make requests for songs and send out messages. Those were the days hehe. I miss those days.

My Best Friend’s Baby!!!!

I’m soooo happy for my best friend. The last time I wrote about her on this blog was on the eve of her wedding. Now, a little over a year since that day, she is a mommy :) She gave birth earlier this month to the sweetest little thing!!! And yes, it’s a girl :) Woot. Can you just imagine all that pink cuteness we can shower this little girl with??? Hehe. Speaking of which, it’s funny how differently we shop for things nowadays. Before, it was all about what designer bag to get or whether a Toyota is better than a Honda. Now it’s like, should I get this crib or would a 4moms origami stroller be better than the other brands, etcetera etcetera! Haha. In any case, it’s amazing to still be with my best friend at this point in our lives :)
