Enchanted by the Enchanted Cafe

Since I’ve turned vegetarian, one of my greatest difficulties is finding good vegetarian options. While it is true that there are more options now than there used to be, I still feel greatly limited to gluten, vegemeat, and tofu. in comes the Enchanted Cafe. I discovered this last week through my co-yoga teacher trainee, Bea, who runs the cafe. Although Enchanted Cafe is not 100% vegetarian, they offer an array of food choices for people like me.

I tried the All-Heart Burger, a vegetarian burger that does not use tofu, mushrooms or fake meat in its blend. Rather, it is made off banana hearts. It was amazingly delicious and had a really great flavor to it. In fact, it even had that meaty quality/mouth feel that I have been missing quite a bit. The order came with a side of kamote fries and a salad. Super yummy for 120. Too bad I wasn’t able to take photos!

Banapple Lovin’

One of the hardest things to do (okay, okay, maybe just HARDER not hardest) since I became vegetarian is to find easily accessible and affordable food options, especially when dining out. I must admit, it’s somewhat easier for me compared to my other vegetarian and vegan friends because I have chosen to remain an ovo-lacto vegetarian.

Anyway, it’s nice to find little items even on regular menus that can accommodate my diet. Besides expensive salads, that is. Haha.

Banapple, for one, offers some pasta varieties that are meat and seafood free. My favorite thing to order there, however, is the Herb Cheese and Mushroom Pie. It’s quite sizable so I can never finish it in one go, and it only costs Php 70.00. Yummy! Sometimes though I find it a tad sweet, but I love it nonetheless.

A Banapple branch is located in the 2nd floor, Il Terrazzo Bldg., Tomas Morato. Other branches are also available, two of which are located in Katipunan.

Veggie Grocery Discoveries

Since I have transitioned to a vegetarian diet, I have discovered lots of great places to eat and found a lot of alternatives for the stuff I used to love. I do admit I don’t really know very much yet about the vegetarian lifestyle and I still am not very refined in the way I make my choices (for example, I was enjoying my gravy the other day thinking, oh this is veg, then I remembered, isn’t gravy made of chicken stock??? har). Anyway, I am learning as I go along.

One thing I discovered recently was this:

Interesting, right? I checked the label this time, and I think I’m not making a mistake, hehe :)

PH Bakehouse Love :)

About a week ago I got a notification on my Facebook account that I was PH Bakehouse’s Fan of the Week. It was so cute :) A dear friend of mine owns and operates this home based business and I have ordered a wonderfully cute cake from her in the past for a friends surprise birthday party.

I will be honest, though, I did not get to taste the cake! We did not get to eat the cake during the party because we ended up eating too much for lunch and so my friend brought the entire cake home. She said it was uber delicious. I don’t think she was just saying that to to make me feel good or what not because even she ordered a cake for her nephews birthday, so I suppose it was really good.
