Happy Birthday Bubba!!!

7 years of Bubba love :)

Celebrated my Bubba’s birthday today. Hard to believe it’s been 7 years since he squirmed his way into my heart :) In celebration we had ice cream and a car ride :)

I dread the day when I have to bid him goodbye….in the meantime, however, I will enjoy every moment I have with him.

Just Like Old Times

I often think Bubba has never really forgiven me for bringing Joe into the family :(

Much as they have learned to get along and they bring so much joy to me as a whole, I think there’s a little part of Bubba that changed because of my seemingly random decision. He seems less happy than he used to be. Then again, maybe he has just gotten old :( He still runs to greet me when I get home and he snuggles next to me like we used to but because Joe is around, he doesn’t stay next to me anymore like before. When we go out for walks, he tolerates his brother but I feel less of a “bounce” in his step.  Maybe it’s just my imagination but I just feel like I broke him somehow by taking in a new dog,  even though my purpose for getting a new dog was so he’d have company.

Yesterday, however, I decided to take Bubba out for a looooong walk, just him and me, like old times. When we got home, he readily greeted Joe and then went on as usual. At bedtime, however, he immediately went back to his old place in the bed, right next to me, and stayed there almost the entire night.

It was such a nice feeling to have him there, and this afternoon, when I took a nap, for some reason Joe decided to stay outside of the room and let Bubba and me be together, just the two of us, for a bit. We had a good hour and a half long nap and when I got up, it was the old familiar Bubba’s face I saw :)

I suppose he just needed some time to be reminded of his place in the family, yes?  It reminded me of how my sister would often joke me about my things making “tampo” when it is about to get replaced (remember how the lcd of that old nokia (or was it the motorola? the one that needed phased out rzr parts to be repaired? haha) suddenly broke on the day when I was complaining that the phone was ugly na and needed replacing??? nagtampo raw kaya nasira! haha). And so yes, maybe Bubba was feeling that way and so I decided that maybe from now on, I should take the boys out on their separate walks and special trips every now and then and not always at the same time. After all, this is often times a recommendation I make in my psychological evaluations and I always highlight how making each child (yes, I know my children are dogs but just go with it!!! haha) feel affirmed and reminded of their value.

I am hoping that I have a long weekend or break soon so I can take Bubba to the beach again…maybe that will do us some good…just him and me, like old times :)

I do look forward, however, to also doing little trips with just Joe. And more especially to those trips I can do with both my boys with me :)

Big Brother Bubba!

Hello World!!! :)

Meet my new love… :)

This is Tequila Jones, Joe for short, my newest little boy :) I initially wanted to name him just Tequila but my friend Char said it sounded a wee bit girly and that I would be emasculating this little man and so I decided to add the Jones part. And Joe seemed a fitting name to match his big brother Bubba’s name…yes, my boys are Bubba and Joe! Haha.

Bubba is a little upset at the fact that I brought home a puppy but he’s adjusting quite nicely, or so I’d like to believe. I’m kinda adjusting to it all and errr…my things….well, they’re suffering, after all, I don’t live in a metal building where he can’t chew on stuff right? And the toilet training…well…it’s driving me nuts!!!

But look at that face…so worth it right? :) Wish me luck with this little boy!!!

Bubba’s New Loot

A few weeks ago I got a notice from the post office that I had a parcel from one of those photo sharing and personalizing sites I explored over the holidays. They were offering free products for new members and of course, who says no to freebies right? I liked it so much that I even told my sister about it so she can see if that would inspire her with something for her wedding favors. Online, I told her, are so many sites that offer quick, affordable and personalized gifts for anniversary, wedding, baptism or birthday. I would have loved to make her wedding favors as I have done for many of my friends, but due to the fact that I am here in Manila and she is all the way in Sacramento, it wouldn’t be cost-effective anymore. I showed her this photo of my dog with his new loot and she said she is considering my initial recommendation of just going online to get her favors. Unless, of course, she ends up with the personalized M&M’s that she wanted haha.

My Teacher Says Woof

I was online earlier searching for cheap car insurance quotes (well, waiting to hear from my friends hubby who attends to my insurance to be more succinct haha) when I got tagged twice for the same photo in Facebook:

Sigh.

It got me to thinking about how much Bubba really has changed my life in so many ways. He has enriched it, challenged it, and at times, made it a hell of a lot more difficult but despite all that, he has made it so much better as well. I have said this time and again: I never imagined falling for a four-legged furball ever in my whole entire life, but he sure changed my mind.

In many ways, he was really taught me life’s most important lessons. The points listed in the photo just reminded me of all that…and today I am reminded of how to be a better person.

Yes, my teacher says woof. And because of him, I think I am a better friend, teacher and overall, a better me.

Life, Love and Laughter through the Eyes of my Bugoy

In one of my other blogs, I once wrote a post about how Bubba has been my teacher of life’s most important lessons. Today, I am reminded of it. I’ve been struggling these past few days with so many overwhelming tasks and things to do which have left me overtired and stressed beyond imagination. Add to that the fact that I am missing people and things around me a little too much. One of the few things that have kept me afloat is Bubba and for that, I’m truly grateful. He is truly a bright ray of sunshine no matter how dismal my day may be.

I really have learned so much from him, as I stated in my post before, but today I am reminded of this note from my Facebook page that I was tagged in by my friends at Project Lightning Kennel :)

A dog teaches us a lot of things, but we never seem to take notice.

These are some of the lessons you might learn… Read the rest of this entry »
