13 for 2013

2013 has been an amazing ride :) I did have some road bumps along the way, but for the most part, I have so much to be grateful for. As I have for the past number of years, I pause and look at what I truly am thankful for on this day. So here is a round up of 13 highlights and things I am grateful for from the year that was.

1. Graduation!

It may have taken 12 long years, but to finally earn my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology was definitely one of the biggest highlights of 2013. I never imagined being able to do it, but apparently I did have it in me :)

2. Training, training and more training :)

I did set out only for my Yin Yoga Teacher Training this year, but I am grateful that I also got to do my Radiant Child Teacher Training and to complete a 50 Hour Training with Leslie Kazadi where I got to explore yoga therapy and restoratives as well.

3. Yoga with Love.

Although the primary purpose of my trip to Singapore was for training, it was such a treat to get to lead my first ever class outside of the country. What made this even more special was the fact that it was a fund raiser for the benefit of Malongs for Mothers, a group that aims to help breastfeeding mothers affected by Typhoon Yolanda. The class raised SGD240!

4. Teaching at The Farm at San Benito

From the first time I stepped into The Farm, I knew I wanted to someday teach there. This year, I got to do that! I am so grateful. I not only got to do it once, but I was able to come back several times over and I look forward to more opportunities to teach there again.

5. Days with my Boys.

It may sound cheesy, but yes, each day with both of my boys have definitely brought infinite joy and happiness to my 2013.

6. Getting my Passport stamped.

I’ve never really been bitten by the traveling bug, and in fact it does rile me up to have to travel, getting my passport stamped this year was a trip. It was nice to get out of the country for a bit. I may do it again next year. Haha.

7. Amazing friends.

There too many individual names to write down here, but meet ups with good friends, reconnecting with old ones, and setting aside hurts with some were truly a highlight to 2013. Meeting new ones, both on and off the mat, also brought a lot of excitement to this year.

8. Y.O.G.A. and reconnecting with the FLOWks.

This year allowed me to reconnect with people I started my practice with. This time, I had the privilege of taking the teachers seat. I am truly grateful for the space they gave me and continue to share with me.

9. Warrior Flow.

While I have always been grateful for all the yoga classes I have been honored to teach, I am especially thankful for the Warrior Flow series. This class taught me so much and continues to give me the inspiration to keep coming back to basics in order to grow in my practice.

10.  New toys.

This year I allowed myself to treat myself to a long-deserved upgrade in my Laptop. Teehee. Plus SMART gave me an iPhone as well :)

11. Random road trips.

I did a couple of these this year and it allowed me to stretch beyond what I normally do. It taught me to spread my wings, to allow people in to my life, and to just be random and spontaneous. The biggest take home in this: it’s always okay :)

12. The Gratitude Project

I have been keeping a gratitude journal for the past three years and it has changed my life. This year I started a different gratitude project, and it continues to change me. I did reneg on parts of this, but I believe it will come back :)

13. YIN.

Not just teacher training, but the practice as a whole.

I can say so much more, but one of my projects for 2014 is speaking only enough, and that includes writing in my blog. Filtering and just saying what is essential, focusing on the core of things, and honoring that is one of my goals for this project, and it begins here.

Thank you 2013, you were amazing. Here’s to the unfolding of 2014.
