And They Lived Happily Ever After…

I think I finally found it…the way to my prince charming that is.

Sus….just add water pala eh! And all this time I’ve been wasting my time on dating the wrong people??? Har.

Seriously though, I have gotten to a point in my life where I have come to the realization that no one, meaning singles or couples, are better off than the other. Sure we have different issues and concerns, but both would have their pros and cons. I do enjoy my lifestyle now, but there are days when I do also see how nice it is to have the kind of lifestyle my married and babied friends have. For example, I love how I can splurge on random stuff on a whim because if I had a family, I’d have to prioritize other things, right? I know I don’t have to shop for mother in law gifts or baby stuff, and so I just buy random stuff for myself instead. BUT…I do wanna have the whole mother-in-law and baby stuff and the whole package, too.

In time, perhaps. In the meantime, lemme go grow my prince charming, yes? Haaaaaaahaaaa!!!!

A Lifetime of Friendship :)

Yesterday, I got to usher in the Lunar New Year with a handful of really great girls who I’ve been friends with since we were, well, girls 🙂 We met way back in our freshman year in college and though we weren’t all immediate friends, it wasn’t long before we were able to form such a great bond and it does seem that we’ve had a lifetime of friendship between us already 🙂 I do admit there have been some falling outs every now and then, and there had been times that we’d go months without talking, but at the end, I do know I am soooo lucky to have these girls as my friends. Albeit so many things have changed, the core of who we are are still the same. I mean, for one we used to shop for useless things, like lip gloss and outfits for dates, dresses for our debuts and graduations and stuff but now it’s wedding dresses and christening gowns. Before we used to just laugh at how taxis and jeep parts would just be falling apart, now we worry about how our cars are so hard to maintain. But yesterday as we hung out, just us girls, no husbands, no children, no boyfriends, it made me remember how much we really are the same girls we used to be.

For that I am blessed. Happy Lunar New Year, folks 🙂

Random Bits of Wisdom

Last week, even though it may have been a little bit late here in the Philippines because of the yearly Metro Manila Film Fest (MMFF) that happens every Christmas time,  I got to catch the press screening of the movie, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.  As I said in my review, it was a great movie to start the year off with and I enjoyed it a lot, but something that struck me even before the movie was the trailer of the upcoming Tom Cruise movie, Rock of Ages. In one of the scenes they had the words “Find Your Passion” lit up in light bulbs flash on the screen. I was sorely tempted to take a photo of it with my cellphone but I was afraid one of those anti-piracy guys with those handheld security cameras would catch me and detain me for piracy so I held back the urge and just let myself remember that.

So while the Universe handed me out another bit of wisdom, I must admit it’s kinda hard to take in because right now, I don’t know what my passion is. I don’t even know what I wanna dream and hold on to anymore. In the meantime while I try to find that passion, I guess I have to just let things be. Yes? Sigh.

All Set for a Game of Shadows with Sherlock Holmes

As promised, this blog is going back to it’s blogger roots and will be doing more product features, movie reviews and the like. My yoga and other self-discoveries have now found their homes in their own respective niches so I from now on, I will be a little more true to the tagline of this site…life’s hits and misses as blogged by yapatoots 🙂 I hope to see you here more often!

Anyway, to get the ball rolling, let me start off with a little feature on the upcoming Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. The other day I got to catch the screening of the flick and it was such a great way to start of the year! From the very beginning all the way to the end, I was literally at the edge of my seat with all the heart-pounding action. Seriously 🙂

The movie, which is set to open in Philippine theaters tomorrow, January 8, brings the dynamic tandem of Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, respectively. Their chemistry on screen and comedic timing really brings such fun to the movie!

The movie takes viewers back to old time London with Holmes and Watson teaming up again to unravel another mystery as he tries to put together pieces of a puzzle that seemingly is tied to his greatest foe, Professor James Moriarty. The story then takes him from London to France, Germany and on to Switzerland. At the cusp of the modern age, the story also taps into the emergent industrial revolution and modern war weaponry.

Besides Downey and Law, Rachel McAdams likewise reprises her role as Holmes’ love interest,  Irene Adler. The film also features Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty, Noomi Rapace as the gypsy Simza, Stephen Fry as Mycroft, and Kelly Reilly as Mary, John Watson’s wife.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is directed by Guy Ritchie and is released by Warner Bros. Philippines.
