The gods, the Kraken and Me: A Clash of the Titans Movie Review

Some movie bloggers and I were invited to the special advanced 3D screening of the anticipated movie Clash of the Titans last Tuesday night at the Glorietta 4 Cinemas. I must admit, among the bunch of bloggers, I probably was the biggest non-Kraken fan of them all. In fact, I have not seen the original version (or to be more succinct, the movie it was based on) and I knew very little about the history of the movie. Also, coming from a Christian school, we never really studied Greek mythology much so it never was really an area of fascination or interest for me.

Moving beyond that disclaimer, let me say that I enjoyed the film. I loved the “grandness” of the movie. Beyond the larger than life story, I like how the special effects, the cinematography and the costume and set designs really take you to their world. I was amazed at the appearance of the Pegasus, and I would have to say that he was one of my favorite creatures in the film.

Clash of the Titans
The story revolves around the, as the movie is described, “the ultimate struggle for power”  that pits man against kings and kings against gods. As man’s faith and admiration of the gods wane, they wage war against the gods thus earning their ire. Powerless to save his family from the vengeful god of the Underworld, demigod Perseus heads off to fight the ultimate battle against Hades before he is able to seize power from his brother Zeus. Together with an uncanny band of brothers, Perseus fights monsters, evil gods and yes, even Medusa.

I won’t elaborate more as not to accidentally spoil the movie for any of you readers, but suffice it to say that Clash of the Titans would be a great after-Easter movie to catch. The film will be shown in both 3D and 2D. I’ve read mixed reviews about whether going for the 3D version or not. For me, I think the 3D experience just makes the movie even larger than it its. Just think of that Kraken 🙂

Clash of the Titans opens on Saturday, April 3, 2010 and is released by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I so love this movie because of the magnificent effects and of course the story. I saw the original movie so many times so I just had to see the new one and I was not disappointed.

I loved the old Clash of the Titans movie so I just had to see this one. It was definitely an eye candy and the new characters they introduced are interesting, including the bounty hunters. Sam Worthington definitely looked like a demi god. Here’s my full review of the movie too: http://www.nicamandigma.com/clashing-of-the-titans/
