Soul Refreshment and the Natural Goodness of Minute Maid

The year that was, also known as 2009, was truly a difficult year for many. For me, I had to deal with financial difficulties that at times felt all too consuming, as well as issues with work and people around me, including friends. On the personal level, I had a lot of issues of feeling alone and isolated, especially as I witnessed many of my friends getting married and having babies. Don’t get me wrong: I am happy for them. But there always is that little part of me that feels insecure about still being on my own.

All these took an emotional toll in me. I tried a lot of things to alleviate the stress I was feeling … I went shopping, I overate, I went shopping so more then ate again, but nothing worked until I realized that there was only one thing that would refresh my tired and weary soul: to go back to nature.

So as the year came to a close and I welcomed 2010, I went back to nature….the shores of Boracay Island.

Of course I couldn’t go completely rogue and forsake my modern technology and conveniences, right? So armed with a good book, my trusty ipod, my amazing Nokia E63, and an icy cold bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange Drink, I lay on the sand, soaked up the sun and thanked God for the beauty of nature.

Lying on the sand with the gentle sounds of the waves crashing into shore refreshed my spirit and quenched my thirsty soul. I was reminded about taking time out to appreciate the simple things in life, the natural goodness of simplicity. While basking in the hot glow of the sun, I also refreshed my physical body with the natural goodness of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange. With its juicy pulpy bits, the cool orange juice was a perfect refreshment partner!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier! I guess it’s because I’ve gotten so used to looking for artificial ways to fill in gaps in my life, be it emotionally, mentally or physically. From shopping malls to the internet to junk food, all of these were artificial means to an end, but I was not getting what I really needed. I suppose even my unhealthy diet (as evidenced by my weight gain in the past two years!) has also burdened me a lot and added to the heaviness (no pun intended) I was feeling. So as part of my detoxification, I decided to limit my soda intake. Before, I would get a cold can of coke to cool down after soaking up the sun for so long but this time, with my Minute Maid in hand, there was a deeper and more fulfilling sense of refreshment I felt as my thirst was quenched by Minute Maid Pulpy Orange’s fresh taste of natural goodness.

On hindsight, I realized that whenever I feel stressed out, I find myself either driving down to Batangas or flying to Boracay, the two places in which I feel most at home. If my soul feels troubled and my spirit weary, I know that finding my way to the beach will refresh me and lift me up the minute I get there.

However, given current financial constraints (and the fact that my cousin no longer lives in Boracay) I cannot afford my weekend getways as easily as before. Plus of course work duties prevent me from just packing up. So whenever I feel stressed or overwhelmed, a great alternative would be a good book, my trusty sarong, Bubba beside me and an icy cool bottle of Minute Maid Pulpy Orange or Mango Orange in my home’s  garden, that’s still nature, right? Kunyari nalang nasa beach ako!

So at the end of the day, when do I refresh with Minute Maid? The answer is simple: when ever I need a boost from the hustle bustle of the daily grind! True refreshment for body, mind and soul!

    Great pictures, teach!

I’ve only been to Boracay once, and that was even before I got married! I hope I will get the chance to go back when my kids are older. Medyo alagain pa kasi sila eh. 🙂

When in Boracay, parang ibang mundo kasi eh 🙂

I used to do that, too, when I was single. I’d hie off to the beach and stare into space. =) Very rejuvenating! Good thing, I was still in Iligan then and beaches are very accessible.

Yeah, it’s good to get some peace and quiet by ourselves and rejuvenate. And oh, my family loves Minute Maid, too. 🙂

There are a lot of things to be thankful for in life. We all have imperfect lives. We just have to make the most of what we have.
