Time to Change the World.

The easiest thing to do in the world is to complain… to complain about how corrupt our government is, to complain how bad things are, to complain how what others should do to change things. But the one thing we fail to do is look at what WE can do to change things.

I believe strongly in the statement that change begins with one’s self. If we start to make little changes in our own behaviors and attitudes, then we can start to live in a better world. It’s very much like wanting to get well or be healed from an affliction or illness. If we don’t take steps to get better, such as take it easy, rest or take medications, we won’t get well. This is true, too, for the world we live in. If we keep complaining and do nothing, then change can’t happen.

So, here I am, taking an important first step to making change happen. How? From this day on, I will make it a point to find the silver lining in every cloud, as cliché as that may be. Rather than focusing on negativity, I will be positive. This is inspired by a good friend of mine who has even started a blog to share to the world how important it is to, in her words, frame things in sunlight. Her self-advocacy is to promote positivity. And to spread this advocacy, she hosted a contest entitled Heal the World: A Positive Photo Blog Contest that encourages us all to also see things framed in sunlight. I sure have. This is my contribution to healing our world. Come join me.

Panlaban kay Mr. Sun! (Protection from Mr. Sun!)

For a beach bum like me, this is one of the most important items in my bag: sunblock. Even though I love playing under the sun and to get a tan, I know how important it is to protect myself from the harmful rays of the sun.

My Delayed "Nakakakilabot"(Scary) Post.

Pardon the delay in posting my entry this week, I’ve just been SO busy with work these past few days. I suppose it was a good thing because I chanced upon this photo. This is truly a scary reminder of why we should not smoke.

Gifts from Darkness.

At the end of a very long day, I was sitting across this window and was blessed with such pretty shadows. It lasted not more than two minutes, as the clouds quickly came by to cover the sun, but I was glad I got to take a quick shot, even if it wasn’t framed very well.

I suddenly was reminded of a very important lesson I learned in therapy…that dark nights of the soul aren’t there to tear you down, but to allow you to see things in a new light. There is beauty in darkness, after all.

In the Heart of Adversity, Hope Springs Eternal.

I’ve decided to let this blog turn a new leaf. Initially I only aimed to share images of the world from my lenses, I decided to include snippets of insights I gain with these photographs. This can hopefully help inspire and comfort those who need them. I am much inspired by a very good friends blog, Framed in Sunlight.

I was in a field of grass a few days ago, with lots of weeds and little wildflowers abound. I was experimenting with my new camera and from that came this…a gentle reminder that no matter what, hope springs eternal.

Basa (Wet)

Like many of the participants in LP, water was the first thing that came to mind when I heard the word “wet”. I wanted to get a shot of dew drops on a leaf bed I walk by when I take my dog for a stroll but it’s kinda hard to do that with him around, so I settled for this. I took this shot when I was in Anvaya Cove over the weekend. I was thrilled because I was able to capture the little details I was aiming for, such as the droplets of water on the flower. This is one of the first few shots I took with my new toy!

On a sad note, those who visited my post last week read about how I value the kind of lock jewelry has. I posted that on a Friday. However, on the way home from Subic last Sunday I realized my necklace had fallen off…most likely due to a faulty lock.

Lock and Key.

One important thing I consider when buying jewelry is it’s lock. Not only should these locks be strong and well-made, I also give value to its design. While this lock may be simple, I loved the details surrounding it.

This is my entry to Litratong Pinoy.

Waiting for Momma to Come Home.

This is often how I catch my Bubba when I get home. Sitting by the gate waiting for me. As soon as he hears me come in, he jumps up and goes berserk :-) Gotta love him!!!
