Ako ay Guro: Ito ang aking Misyon. (I am a Teacher. This is my Mission)

(Of all the themes in Litratong Pinoy, this was perhaps the most clear-cut to me. I just had difficulty deciding what photo to put, but from the get-go, I knew exactly what my mission was.)

(I am a teacher. I am proud to say that! I feel that teaching is not just a job for me, but it is my true passion. This is where I found my joy. This answers the questions about who I am. This is where I find my peace of mind. I have to admit that this job often isn’t easy, and that by taking on this mission, I may never truly be financially rich. Nonetheless, I take on this mission wholeheartedly.)

(Actually, this mission became the catalyst for the formation of one of my blogs, www.theaccidentalteacher.com. I have been blogging for quite some time already, but it was only recently that I realized that this hobby of mine can be a platform to widen my scope and reach as a teacher. Here I am able to support advocacies, share what I know and offer support to those who need it.)

Nagsimula itong misyong ito sa isang simpleng plurk: yapatoots is thinking about getting her own domain.

This mission began with a simple plurk: yapatoos is thinking about getting her own domain. Within minutes I got so much support and positive reactions. Then the ball got rolling! While I was not expecting the response I got, I would like to take this time to thank all those who have supported and are continuing to support my mission…big heartfelt thanks to my friend who gave me the gift of the domain name, to friends who offered support on setting up and hosting the site, to the readers, and also to those who have seen my blogs potential to be an influential blog for 2009 and included it in their personal top ten lists.

i love your statement na "hindi rin ako yayaman sa misyon kong ito ngunit buong puso kong tinatanggap ito" i know a lot of teachers who can get better jobs pero nananatili pa sila as guro kahit na mababa ang wages… 😀

Good luck teacher Ria! Happy LP!

sabi nga nila…"if you can read, thank a teacher". Napaka "noble" na misyon ang pagtuturo. Hindi madali at kung tutuusin, walang maging doktor, engineer, or ano pa man kung walang guro. My salute to you!

I have always admired teachers. I remember my grade one teacher na nakakasipag at nakapatiyaga. She made use of old calendars and cigarrette boxes to make extra learning materials for the class. It's been over 20 years now and I still pay my respect for my grade one teacher. I still visit her, send her SMS, and take her around Manila when she's here.
